Description

The best boots we have ever tried for winter SUP.   We have paddled through many winters and in Greenland around icebergs with sea temperatures of -2c and have tried out many short watersports boots and shoes and found most to be quite ineffective in cold air temperatures (less than 5c).   Cold feet can be a problem in winter paddleboarding as feet usually get wet when you launch and then are regularly splashed or immersed. The Boundary shoes, although designed for sea kayaking provide a good solution for most conditions.  They are high enough to avoid wet feet when launching and if you do get water in (this will only happen if you wade into deep water or fall off your board) the neoprene still works to keep your feet warm.  To get the best out of these buy one size bigger than your usual shoe size (these are in US sizes so that means go two sizes bigger). This gives you room for neoprene socks on the very cold days and avoids constricting your toes and cutting off circulation. The Boundary Shoe is very flexible so you can feel the board and very grippy for slippery mud and rocks. They are comfortable and flexible enough to run for short distances or for portaging. The sole is thick enough to protect against sharp rocks etc.
